This is a song that was inspired by a conversation during a set break with a Iraq war vet who served two tours. It's because of her that this song came to being. After the gig, the first verse came into my head in the car on the way home. Credit also goes to Steve Prosser, the singer I work with in Sterns County 17. Without his help, this song would have never been finished. It's nice to be able to work with another songwriter!

    Lyrics:
    Lioness, oh lioness
I can tell from your hands
You've been gone twice from home
    Boots lost in the sand
    Lioness, oh lioness
    I can understand
    what fills you heart
    and drained your soul
    was nothing that you planned
    nothing that you planned

Bitter winds of truth or hope
    you could always command
    Better than all that wrote
    or wanted a different end
    Terrible times at home
    there was always a plan
    driftin' alone with your friends
    a drink in your hand
    a drink in your hand

    And when you're alone
    the tears set in
    The cards you hold
    were dealt by those
    who didn't know you couldn't
    push to win

    guitar solo

    And now you're home
    where things haven't changed
    But in your heart
    they should know
    you aren't really the same

    Lioness, oh lioness
I can tell from your hands
You've been gone twice from home
    Boots lost in the sand
    Lioness, oh lioness
    I can understand
    what fills you heart
    and drained your soul
    was nothing that you planned
    nothing that you planned

    Very nice song.

Your singer has a very Jason-esque quality to his voice (Jason & the Scorchers, one of my all time favorite bands).

The vocalist on the track is me. I recorded all the parts (guitar, vocals, bass, piano, drums) myself with GarageBand. Thanks for listening! I'm glad you liked it.
