I'm with tonedaddy on the used Hamer, can't beat it. Brand new money for me under $600.00 is the Dean Caddillac Select. At least for an LP type guitfiddle. Build quality is great. Yeah, it's an unconventional design, some can't get past it but it's always appealed to me. Out of the box frets are polished and nicely done. Neck is Gibson 50's style, a tad wider methinks. Mine has a Tom Anderson in the bridge but they come with Dean p/u's by Dimarzio. Tone pots for each p/u is pull split coil.

I just recently got an Agile AL2000, Cherry red, with GFS overwound alnico pickups for $140.00. I've taken it to a gig and it is an amazing guitar for the price.

I paid under $600 for an Edwards ELP90, a Greco 80's LP standard, and an Epiphone Japan LP Standard as well. All great guitars, way beyond what you would think for the cost.

Damn, those Reverends are nice. Are they really that cheap used? I saw Billy Corgan using one.

You should keep in mind that Billy's Reverend was a custom order (I think built by Joe Naylor himself) with a long-scale/baritone neck, tuned to C standard.

    I bought a brand-new American Standard Strat off the rack at Veneman's in 1990 for $525 :)
