Here is another oldie from the archives. Funk fusion raping of So What. My stereo Marshall JMP1 rig. From my Stern phase.

I seem blessed with drummers

Nothing like the pulsing of the autolimiting recording! :(

Also included for your listening (dis)pleasure is a POD take over a blues turnaround track. I dug it out last night and found I actually liked it.

http://www.scottlernermusic.com/music/Bluesturnaroundtake3-160.mp3 The POD doesn't sound half bad for what it is.

Hey,Scotty, dug the fourths line in the first clip. You were definitely burning it up,Stern influence or not:dude.Second clip was sounded closer to how you play now, more jazzier and ,less gainier:D

    Hi Scott,

I like the clips. The POD take was full of licks I'd like to steal. :D

Regarding the POD, what kind was it? Old POD version 1 or 2? Maybe a PODxt? Any pedals in front? What amp model?

    Cheers,

    Mats N

Loved the live clip -- intense stuff, the other one was also very nice... yeah, get a band, man!

I dig the energy in the first clip. It's easy to get lost soloing to "So What".

Cool arps in the 2nd clip, I like how you resolved the arps starting around 2:02 and then repeat a similar idea a few measures later. Organic/theme & variation soloing is probably favorite style.

    Great playing, as always.

ya Scott----put them all up----the live--man thats a pretty saturated tone-
even compared to the last live ones-:RoCkInsmokin....playin once again!!!

the POD 'almost' works for me with yer guitar---Baker?

but with single coils its a hard one for me to get right...

how the heck do you get so inpired to play so well with BITB--! -yikes-
I just give up & go watch TV!!

    thanks for sharing again.

Nice playin' Scott. I like the more fiery and aggressive stuff in the first clip a lot.

Just fantastic playing Scott!. I loved ALL of them. (Including the Leaves you did not post.) The turnaround is super cool as well. Thanks for posting this stuff. Way more for me to steal from. :) Your playing is SO horn like. The ultimate compliment imo.

The Pod clip was POD PRO. Probably spdif connected. I have clips using the POD 2, POD PRO, and POD XT (still own that one) I usually favored a gained out Blackface model.

Most of the tracks on my site in the top part of my music are some sort of POD.

Thanks again for listening and commenting guys!

I have some older live stuff with Pre-amp rack ect. and hear all the effects grease goin' on that you have here. Now we have gone 180 on that sound. Your playing sounds great(def hear the Stern, esp on the 4th thang) and seems like you were having fun.

The POD sounds pretty darn good. Just a little lack of dynamics when you pick lighter, but overall has a very Robben quality to it.

    Peace,
    duffy

That last clip was great too. This may sound crazy, but was that other guitarist Scott Henderson? Sounded a little like him at times.
