Looking to hook up an amp head to the Line 6 Powercab 212 Plus (which has basic cable ins).

I presume if I connect an appropriate load box between the amp head and the Powercab I would be fine?

Huh? The Powercab is an active cabinet. How would you hook and amp head up to it and what are you looking for the load box to do?

I want to hook up an amp head to have its sound... and use the Powercab for its speakers. I would presume running the cable out of the head to the Powercab would cause damage. Therefore a Load Box (which also acts as a soak so that I can crank the head and get high-gain tones at low volumes). Now, if I'm not thinking of the Powercab in the right way, let know. Certainly I can plug in my preamps and the AMP1 Iridium (from the headphones out), but with an amp head you're going from the head to a cabinet.

Better off getting a Rivera or something? In canada the mini rock crusher is over $500. Any other suggestions?

Check out the Suhr reactive load. Very nice box, and just take the line out from it to the powercab.
