Hi. Can anyone give me any advice re: which PAF style humbucker is better? I am trying to decide between the Lollar Imperials which look really good and the Wolfetone Dr. Vintage set, which all the literature says are awesome as well. Pickups will be going into a PRS McCarty (the McCartys) are coming out. Also, have heard good things about Smits, Skatterbrane, Tom Holmes (too much $) and WCR. I'm a bit of a rookie in this area so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Both of these pups are GREAT. They are 2 different tonal beasts. The Lollar is a bit more "hi- fi" and nice, open sounding where as the Wolfetone Dr.V's are about as close as you can get to the real deal PAF's. I definately preferred the Dr.V's for the real deal PAF tone.

I've tried TONS of PAF replicas and the Dr.V's IMHO are thee closest to the real deal tone.

If you are looking for PAF tone, you can't go wrong with Wolfetone or WCR. The Imperials are fine sounding pickups, but give a more "refined" tone.
