Looks good to me but there are a lot smarter folks here that can sniff out the fakes...
Call Gibson and give them the s/n, see what they say.

It's legit, tuners have been replaced, pass if you're already worried about resale.

    Real.
That's a fantastic deal if it were in my area, I'd snatch it up right away.

Looks fine. It’s a decent price for it. You’re right, most people want LPs in sunburst, so red trades lower.

This my friend is 100% legit. Good price, but if you're trying to make money on it, you won't make much and may sit on it for a while. The more "desired" R9s as mentioned by @Bossanova are the bursts. But if you like the guitar and you are going to be the player of it - which you also like about the guitar hopefully - then who cares what anyone else thinks about "desirability". I own a Gibson LP Custom with Richlite fretboard. Wanna fight about it? Just messing around with you. Anyhow, no worries on the authentic part with this bad boy. As @Ejphotos said, I'd want to snatch it up too. Maybe engage in a conversation and knock off a hundred or so if you're lucky since it is a private seller. If they won't budge, it's still a good price for Custom Shop Gibson LP R9... $3200, and has some nice flamage going on... Run to the bank, get that money!!! Hurry up because I'm going to inquire here in a moment :D

And if you do decide to be the lucky guy, replace them tuners with the vintage tuners the guitar came with. Maybe the guy has them since it is described as "near mint". Grovers don't look right on a Historic for my eyes. Don't mind them on other LPs, but not an R9. YMMV though.

Agreed, buy it to play. Most red historics are replicas of a specific guitar called "sweet cherry." Beatles fans often get them because they are often close to Harrison's "Lucy" and that is why you'll often see Grovers on them. Note that in order to install these tuners, you need to make permanent alterations to the headstock, as the holes need to be reamed out. To return to "original, vintage-accurate" klusons, you can get adapter bushings.

Yeah, good point about the altercations. So the near-mint listing perhaps isn't so "near mint"...

Looks real, fretboard looks a little dry and the tuners look replaced. Seems like a reasonable price for an R9.

Willing to bet 9 out of 10 guys that put them on are because of a certain 59 they've seen them on. ;)

Grovers look wrong on historics to me, as well.

It’s because the headstock shape is wrong and the bulky tuners accentuate it.

I'm going to say real, because that first pic is exactly what every Historic owner takes to show off the flame. :)
Looks right, but a gutshot of the control cavity would be a good idea. They still stamp "R9" in there, don't they?
I agree with others, I wouldn't buy it if flipping is your priority.

Maybe I'm the only one - but the pictures make the guitar look like a fake. All the historic stuff (minus the tuners) look correct - but the finish looks pretty odd in the pictures.

You can pretend that it is a Slash Rosso Corsa...

If it plays well and sounds great I don't see you losing money on it; OK, lose $200 in a quick case, worst case scenario.

With those tuners I wonder if Harrison's guitar was the inspiration?

Looks real to me, and it comes with all the case candy and original tuners according to the listing.
