My amp recently stopped working, and I'm looking to replace it with something cheap, like under 150 cheap. I was thinking that since the head version of amps are usually cheaper, I could convert my old 112 combo into a cab? I appreciate any suggestions!
Check out the Fender Mustang series. Plenty of value.
I picked up a mint used Mustang V head(Stereo 150w) for $199! It comes with recording and editing software.
Two thoughts - first, what amp do you have now, and why did it quit? Depending on what it is, your best course might be to just get that one fixed.
Second - check the pawn shops for a USA made Peavey Bandit Transtube. Bulletproof, sounds good, inexpensive, works for practice and the gig (and generally cheap to fix, but they rarely break).
The Pathfinders are great, but there are tons of great sounding Peaveys out there cheap.
Most still work after 20+ years. And you'll get VOLUME where the Pathfinders are lacking.
