Looking for a envelope filter/auto wah that is like this...

I want a Maxon AF9, but there are some out there with a smaller foot print. That would help me out immensely. I am looking for something that is 9v, won't boost or mess with my tone when not on, and a similar sound to the Maxon. It will be used on a limited basis, but I like the idea of a filter that works with the bass frequency (and doesn't cut them).

This pedal will be used probably once a set max, so it might be more important to me to not wreck my dry tone than it be the "best" compact pedal. It would be in in line with a Micro POG and delay.

Thanks!

I have three mutrons and the Maxon AF-9...the Mad Professor Snow White Auto Wah is very close, and is the smallest footprint pedal, uses 9v, and there is no volume boost or loss.

IDK if it's anything like the Maxon, but I love my MojoHand Analogue Filter. It's based on the DOD 440. Small footprint, 9v, haven't noticed it affecting my tone at all. Relatively cheap too!

That might be out of my price range (Snow White). The size would probably work, though. I am trying to cram one on a Pedal Train Mini with only a couple inches to spare! I've seen comments on a Guyatone WR3, but haven't tried one before. That is a small pedal!

MojoHand is only $149 from tone factor. I got mine off of the Emporium for about $120 I think.

I have my MHAF on my PT-Mini and have room for 5 other MXR sized pedals, plus a this1smyne micro buffer.

You can also look at an old MXR envelope filter...some of them have the 9v, good sounding pedal, no volume changes...small MXR size

I think I see one on eBay now. I might end up holding off until I know exactly how much room I can get by with.

The Menatone Mail Bomb is the best EF I've ever played. It has the best response to pick dynamics I've ever come across. Full control of the depth and peak, attack and decay. It has a more unique voice quality to it so it won't sound exactly like the Maxon but I think it's better and more variable, musical, and usable.

I decided to part with my DLS Rotosim (emporium) in order to pick up the Maxon. While maybe not the "best", I know it works for exactly what I want it to do.
