So I just recently got a Whitfill tele (fantastic!) and am looking for a great 2 EL84 head to go along with it. I'm looking for something that has a solid bottom end (hard I know with 84's) and that is going to to get a little hairy when turned up, but still remains clear and a good pedal platform. The two amps that I've been thinking about so far are the Two Rock Cardiff and the Dr Z Carmen Ghia. If anyone has experiences with either amp I'd love to hear what you thought of them. Also, I'd love to hear some other suggestions as far as low wattage amps.

Any and all input is greatly appreciated!

Ghia is so good, SO good, but there isn't much clean headroom iirc

Ghia is one of my fave amps ever. Wish I hadn't sold it. Something magical about them. Huge punchy lower mids and bottom end. Loud for 18watts too.

Morgan AC20 Dlx. Great low end and master watts so you can get great cranked tone at most volumes. It is certainly plenty loud with the right speaker/cab.

Search the forum before buying direct from the builder. Best to buy used or from a dealer.

Hughes & Kettner makes one, but it's only 18 watts.

Matchless Spitfire. A very loud 2 x EL84 head. Really interactive controls and can deliver a ton of different tones.
