That's a lot to ask from a pedal. So much of that tone has to do with the amp and the speakers. Those Bogner clips sound a little more like later Master Volume Marshalls to me than a Plexi. It might sound odd, but you might want to try a modded Boss SD-1. I modded one recently and swapped out some caps and resistors and changed all the clipping diodes and after a bunch of tinkering, I was amazed at how close it came to that Marshall type of gain the XTC has.

Two pedals with three letters: OCD and COT50

    They've got that vibe!

Ditto! I've got both and those would be my choices for what you're after.

I'll look into that Boss and the COT50 (That's a Lovetone pedal right?).

thanks. I forgot to mention I had an OCD. It didn't even get close to that tone, but YMMV. :D

How about the Carl Martin, Dyna Red or the Landgraff pedals?

Keep in mind that a stock SD-1 won't sound anything like it. I'm going to try to post some sound samples tonight of mine so you can compare. Good luck.

that would be very cool. :AOK

btw, I sent you a PM regarding the mods you've done to it, etc.

I found a soundclip of the Barber DDSS: http://barberelectronics.com/SShamer.mp3

That is pretty close, not quite but dang close.

I have a XTC. Those Plexi clips sound terrific but are very hard to accomplish because the amp volume needs to be maxed...

Those Bogner clips sound awesome so out of the pedals that I use or used that can come somewhat close to that is the Tonebone pedals, I just ordered a MI Audio Crunch Box pedal so I wonder how close to that tone i could get.
Just have to wait and see!

A Tonebone Classic or Hot British will get you there.

I have a pedal that sounds just like Plexi mode on the Bogner Ecstasy. It's the Ch.2 button on my Bogner footswitch to my Ecstasy head!!

    Sorry...I'm being a jackass again.

The Hughes & Kettner tubefactor will get you very very close. I have heard it against a real xtc plexi channel, and it comes about as close as I've heard.

Reply to an earlier post, the COT50 is a Lovepedal product, not Lovetone..

Try to avoid Lovepedal though, once you get your first one you're hooked ;)

No match for the Stephenson Stage Hog!

"I designed the SH to be the second channel of a clean amp (such as a twin), I wanted an all out cranked tube amp sound for my gain channel (cranked plexi), and bypass the pedal for my clean sound, and I wanted to be able to have these sounds at any volume level"
