Looking for Fender Twin output Transformers

Lot's of people want a shortcut but there are a lot (I mean a lot) of companies making good transformers now a days. Play it for a little bit and it will start sounding good on it's own. I can hear my new amps breaking in quite quickly (order of few months and few years). Save the vintage amps out there (unless it's already torn to parts and you really need for some reason to build an exact replica of an amp).

There is no specific source for old transformers. You only have a few choices to track one down. The usual online sources (ebay, craigslist), hitting used parts dealers (google and you will find some, or hit the vintage guitar show circuit, you might get lucky), or take the part number in hand and hit every surplus store in the nation and hope you find one.

Best bet is probably buying a new one though. Mercury makes great stuff. So does Heyboer and a number of other makers. Plenty of choices for those transformers.

+1 I swear by Heyboer and have put plenty of MM's in at customer request and they are great as well.

Just consider rust penetration on the old irons..that can be a crap shoot, as you may see rust on the outside, the rust may or may not penetrate inside. I've seen heavily rusted transformers work great without any failures and then I've seen the flip side of slightly rusted failed tranny's...just something to keep in mind.

Get and early '70's twin, ship it to Brandon and let him swap the trannies out with new ones and then resell the amp on ebay. You're gonna lose a few bucks on the deal but as a percentage of the total price it's not that significant.
