i'm looking for a really good hand-wired phase pedal... Something along the lines of a phase 90 or small stone...

    And suggestions?

I haven't played one, but everything I have read and sound clips I have heard point me towards the Retro-Sonic Phaser. I'm sure many will chime in with first hand experience to recommend this pedal.

+1 on the Retro Sonic, it's based on the Script circuit with an added level control so you don't have to worry about volume drop. I thought it was quite a subtle phaser at first until I discovered the internal trimmer which can make it really intense. It also gives a pretty good vibe effect.

Love my Retrosonic phaser!!! more control options than any of the EHX offerings (I tried several small stones)

Those two are quite different. Thing is, most boutique phasers are based on the Phase90.

Doesn't matter how it sounds, as long as it's handwired boutique!

The Quasar will cover the more trippy stuff that the Retro Sonic won't do. Either one would be fine for more straightforward Phase 90 type sounds.

Eh...I can't really explain it, but I wasn't too stoked for this phaser. It felt a little clinical to me. I know that sounds stupid, but that's the best way I can explain it at 2 in the morning.

I've had several hand-wired, boutique phasers and I picked the Maxon PH350. It's versatile, reliable and works great clean and with overdrive.
