That dealer is a bit too enthusiastic...
As Joel said, that price is totally made up, we'll take care of it.

    Thanks Joel.

I've seen this sort of thing done before. Even to the point of people accepting order deposits on products when no release date or supply schedule has been given by the manufacturer.

To hold you over, you can buy a Benson Preamp, a Boss Ge-7 and hire an assistant to move the EQ for you for each song.

I'm guessing there won't be much of a price difference...

Hey, I can contribute to this :)

Sourcing the new custom enclosure has been a bit more challenging than I anticipated but I think we've rounded the bend on it. I just got 4 production samples in and from everything I can tell they are absolutely perfect and fit exactly how they should with my latest PCB design.

The next step is to send an assembled unit to the guy that designed the enclosure so that hey can verify everything is perfect, and then he is going to meet with our contract manufacturer in Los Angeles to make sure that I've designed the product in such a way that it can be assembled / manufactured reliably and to their spec.

Assuming all this goes smoothly (I'm hopeful it will), I'll give the green light to start building the enclosures and we should have the first batch in a few months and be ready to start production. I'm still hoping for a Fall release. Obviously there is still quite a lot of variables here and it could get pushed back. So far so good.

You are officially the gold standard in not only pedal building execution and quality, but in transparency as well. Thank you...

haha, thanks man. I've been reminded a few times throughout the process that "oh yeah... this is why you stuck with your standard form factor for so long" ... I'm really hyped on the new form factor for the automatone line though. Should be really fun to design other products for it too. Lots of flexibility and easy to use so all this work will be really be worth it I think.

Assuming this latest revision’s case dimensions are final (and I haven’t overlooked it being posted earlier...), what are the dimensions? I love my Benson Preamp - and your work - so much that I am definitely going to buy one of these. I’m in the middle of a board rebuild and would like to reserve a correctly sized hole. :D

hey thanks! it's 5.75" wide. 6.5" deep. Then the height we got an angle. at the front it's 1.5" high and at the back it's 2.5" high.

Wow ... so, unless the part of my brain that does math has died recently (entirely possible), this is even bigger than the RevivalDrive... Joel, is there any thought of creating a smaller version of the Automatone - same functionality, more or less, but with knobs rather than sliders (and I guess without the automation)? (I do like the 5-pin MIDI and the presence of a preset # display, however basic). Anyway, I'm psyched to see this thing in the flesh.

I think the Benson preamp is just that. ;)

Did I miss a price point on this? I assume is going to be intense.

No, you've misunderstood me. What I meant was: a smaller version of the Automatone, with (probably) the only difference being knobs instead of sliders (perhaps the 5-pin midi would have to be sacrificed as well, for the sake of size). All the rest: Midi functionality, sweepable mids with selectable Q, fuzz, clipping options, whatever I've forgotten, would be retained. So, not the Benson preamp at all.

(Obviously, I'm talking here about what I'd like to see, not what I expect to see.)

All right, you insist on missing my point. I don't really care though. Veel geluk, friend.
