    Hi all,
I love the dl4 looper. I don't like the way it breaks.

Looking for another looper with the same footprint in terms of buttons.

On/off, play once, reverse, half speed.

Having just reverse won't work. Having just half speed won't work. Having to bend down and flip a switch like with the ditto also won't work.

Let me know if you know of anything!

Timefactor with a 3 AUX Switch maybe.

There is a "Play once" option in the "Playback mode" that you will need to save on your Looper preset. I'm not sure if you can assign that as an "AUX" option though.

You could try the original Boomerang, which is what the DL-4 was emulating to begin with.

I was on the same search a while back.
I ended up just upgrading the foot switches in the DL-4. Solved my issue with it for very little money.

I've been going through this same dilemma. I ended up just fixing the switches on my my DL4. That said, according to the Ditto x2 manual, the reverse and half-speed options can happen at the same time though I can't personally confirm. All of the clips I've watched haven't shown this feature which is why I just fixed the DL4 and moved on. Hopefully this is helpful!

    From the manual

    Combining Reverse and
    Half Speed effects

You can apply both effects to a loop and switch
them on and off independently. There are two
    ways to do this.

Working with two effects – method 2
    – Set the FX selector switch to the first effect
    you want to apply (e.g.“Reverse”).
    – Press the FX footswitch.
The effect will be activated, and the FX footswitch
LED will light up (red for the Reverse
    effect).
    – Press the FX footswitch twice in short succession.
The second effect will be applied, and the FX
footswitch LED will alternate between red and
    green.
    – To switch off the original effect, press the FX
    footswitch again.
    – To switch off the second effect, press the FX
    footswitch twice in short succession.
Mastering this method will allow you to create
dramatic and fun musical effects without having
to select the desired effect manually.

The ditto X2 can do both 1/2 speed and reverse at the same time. You can also turn 1/2 speed on before you record and then turn it off so that everything goes to double time. The only issue is that about once a month the footswitches don't work until I pull the power and reset it. Hasn't happened live yet but.....

same here. judging by your specifications, soupin' up that DL4 is your best bet. still the best looper for live use imo.

I have a very love/hate relationship with the DL4. It is my favorite looping device. The Strymon Timeline with the MultiSwitch is the closest to the DL4, but instead of Play Once it will retrigger playback and then continue instead of stopping at the end of the loop, also has Undo as well. I have tried to move on to other super fancy and expensive loopers, but none offer the ease of use and flexibility of the DL4.

Does the Ditto X2 record your speed changes in the middle of a loop? I almost don't care though, as it seems failure prone on par with the DL4.
