The new album from Los Lobotomys, the famed band which now features Chad Wackerman on drums, David Garfield on keys, Doug Bossi on guitar, Lenny Castro on percussion and Jon Pena on bass is here with guest spots from Scott Henderson, Robben Ford, Frank Gambale, Lyle Workman, Tim Miller, Joe Bonamassa, Randy Brecker, Will Lee, Walt Fowler, Brandon Fields and Guthrie Govan.

The disc has tributes to Holdsworth, Mike Brecker and Paco DeLucia and is one of the albums of the year for me.

I listened to the Joe B - Robben Ford one, sounded pretty sweet. I saw a video of those two playing together when Joe was 16 and he was just tearing it up. Crazy good for a 16 year old, no kind of restraint, though. :D

Love the one with Henderson and Govan.... intense! And the Lyle Workman spot is also great!

From what I can, tell I guess Doug Bossi has replace Luke on this cd?

WOW!! Never heard of Doug Bossi. I have been listening to the first LL CD in the car a lot lately. I will check this out. I'm sure it's fantastic, but wish Luke was on there, for nostalgia's sake if nothing else. He kills on the one I have.

    Agree with the OP
I was expecting 3.0 to be keyboard heavy
David Garfield is a monster on the keys and previous Lobotomys discs have some of the finest interplay between
    him and Lukather
Their schism was a big loss

I’d not heard of Doug Bossi, so listened to this blind and he kicked my ass
His rhythm work is aggressive and melodic, mixed back so as not to dominate
Quite magnificent. The guests are not half bad either.
    Been playing it continuously.

Album of the year for me

First time I've heard this. Massive. Miles Davis meets Steve Vai. I dig it. Thx OP.

Great record! Bossi is such an insane player! Love the tunes and playing.
Love the track with Guthrie Govan, Scott Henderson and Tim Miller! Three of the most incredible improvisers in one track.
Robben Ford and Gambale are great on this too.

    Never heard of this band.

I'm digging that Robben Ford/Bonamassa one.

Robben seems to be running with this fuzzy type tone recently. It's all over his new record too.

Well, Garfield and Luke parted ways years ago... I don’t know if they reconciled after that.

Outstanding in so many ways ...
Have to admit though that one guy who immediately blew me out of the water is the conga player ...
His chops are simply insane ... !!

No apology necessary. What's mine is yours.

"Tomorrow, try decaf" was starting to become played out.
