Sincerest condolences on your loss. Losing pets is so hard. My sister's dog died last week, and they were beside themselves with grief.

Pet lovers are cool and losing our pets is not. My heart goes out to them.

Yeah, It was much better and I got to spend some time with him and took him to the vet for cremation when I was ready or as ready as I was going to be.

18 years! Oh my god. That must have been so hard. Yeah, I'm not sure Im up for a puppy at my age but I think I'll be able to get maybe a two year old? We'll see. Glad it worked out for you though!

Sorry man, that really sucks. The only comfort I can offer is that goin' out that way is way better than suffering for a long time to reach the same conclusion. That's of little comfort when you've lost a family member like this though. Maybe when you recover from it a bit you can adopt another dog and give him the same kind of great life I'm sure yours had in his memory.

That is hard. At least he didn't suffer. We outlive many pets in our lifetimes. It's always hard.

Ah, didn't even think about the section but you're right. Perhaps a moderator can help. Your recommendation is a good one and I'm going to be on it as soon as the crocodile tears start to subside.

Yes, not my first Rodeo but each seems like the first. Never seem to get used to the loss. I guess that's a good thing.

Condolences. It sucks to lose a pet. We came home one day to find Maple, our cat, curled up on the bed, dead. So weird. I still think of her after a few years, but it's also wistful and good memories.

Don't ever tell me a pet isn't as important as a person, cause your lying. Let that knife dig and grieve. Nothing you can do about it, that is what grieving is and to never forget. Grieve, but remember, there is a dog who needs you somewhere. SO think on it. Figure it out. Come to terms cause you obviously have a lot of love for another. You both will deserve it. BTW, if you don't hurt when you loose a pet, you probably shouldn't have owned them in the first place. Your a looser not making them important or maybe #1.

My current doggie, Mojo, just turned 14, and he's way beyond his expected lifetime. He has really gone downhill recently. Mojo (who is Polish, is short for Mojohowicz) has given us so many years of happiness. His passing will undoubtedly bum us out, but I say it was worth it.

Keep all those wonderful laughs and memories topmost in your mind. And then get another dog. They need you and you need them. Perfection.

Gee I am so sorry. It really is a valuable relationship we have with our pack. Even if it is just a pack of two. When I'm having my toughest days my dog is the best one to connect to. Take care of yourself and keep spreading that sadness and love. We can take it.

Amen! My dogs have always gotten every bit of love I have to offer. You get it back in spades!

Very sorry. It is hard, but try to focus on how it likely was a better way to go for the dawggie. You'll see him again someday!
