I was a "Grande rat" during the short amazing run. It was like no other place before or since. Bands loved playing there - there was a unique Detroit energy at the time.
My first ever major concert was there in '67. The MC5 opened for the Grateful Dead. Jerry was still skinny and Pigpen was fat & healthy. It cost $2.50 and we could walk right up the edge of the stage, 6 feet from Jerry. That event changed my life.
