    Ok, I want a fuzz.
I've been GASsing for one for quite some time now and especially the D*A*M Mk II and Drag'N'Fly have raised my pulse :)
But I just can't help it, I think I'm gonna "go Lovepedal"..
If I had more money, I'd buy two or more fuzzes, a traditional germanium fuzz, a Big Muff clone and then something a bit wackier..

But now I've narrowed down my choice between the Karl and BBB.. Pros/cons between these two?

For those who have or have tried both which one would you pick?

I'm planning to use the fuzz mainly for lead work and it's gonna be live and in the studio as well. I want the fuzz to be relatively easy to set up so that I don't have any hassles during gigs..

Which one is more versatile? BBB I quess, but then again I'd like some of the crazyness of the Karl.

What about the trim pot inside BBB? I heard someone mention this.. What does it control and how crazy does make the BBB go?

Thanks, you see I'm pretty lost here...

This is really a question for Sean. I've got the BBB. It has a trim pot on the inside to make it crazier but I've never messed with it. Just something you might not have known. Never tried the Karl. You might want to listen to Gainster's clips.

    I love the BBB.

If the fuzz is gonna be used mainly as a lead....go Karl.
I've had both...the BBB is great. Its thick. Its what I like out of a rhythm fuzz.
The Karl is amazing. So toneful. I do use it for rhythm sometimes as it has its unique personality, but its nowhere need a BMP.

So Karl FIRST...then get BBB later on. :)

See, I have the BBB and with the "blend" knob you can go from fuzz face fat to treble booster "sharp"--and anything in between. I keep the knob at 12-1 o'clock and get great od-dist sounds, depending were I set the gain/fuzz knob. So I say the BBB!

I would also recomend the Karl...cuts Very well live and is tweakable. It's the fuzz I use at all my gigs.

I may be biased but I also would pick the kARL ,if your only gonna get one.
But the BBB is a must too.

    Just get both.

Correct me if I am wrong, but Sean does not ship outside the U.S. Since the original poster is in Finland, he is going to have a hard time getting a Lovepedal.

Sean has shipped me two pedals here already, so no problems there..

Thanks for the input all you guys... I'm really torn, but I think I might go with the BBB, since I only can buy one at the moment (not even one actually unless I get rid off something I already own) and it seems more versatile..

Thanks Aaron. I was waiting for you to chime in since I remembered you have or have tested both.. Thanks for the clips! I cant listen to them right now with my work computer but tomorrow I'll give them a listen..

I've listened to the Karl clips on Lovepedals website and they are marvellous.. The only Balance clips I've heard are Gainsters, and it's a Balance and not BBB right? Is there a difference other than the additional knobs?

How would you describe the fuzz tone of the BBB? Sean talks about Fuzz Face and MkII in the website.. How'd you guys who own the BBB describe it?

Btw, is it germanium or silicon??

I recall several posts from people in Canada who stated that you would not ship internationally. I stand corrected.

Dude! If he still has them, the BBB should be Raytheon NOS 60's Germanium, 2 trans that he spends a while to match. The BBB definitely has the Fuzz Face tone. But you can turn the filter control (tone) down which allows way more highs than a traditional FF. BTW, I'm not a FF expert, but I've played a few reissues. The BBB simply has to be the best "normal/smooth" fuzz available, period.

The Karl normally has a silicone tran. Don't want to make you guy's jealous, but my Karl has one of the Raytheon Germanium's. :dude

    Hey Aaron,

You using the Karl with your Tophat CR? Did you do the volume cap mod on the amp?
