which pedal for low gain OD ?
The Barber LTD.
From what i've read it excells at what you are looking for.
Nice sound clips for you there as well.
I hope that helps.
Rig specifics plaease...
Hotcake or Hotcake Bluesberry have been great for that... you might try a booster with a little hair or edge to it as well, then you'll be listening to your amp's OD, not just a pedal's impression of amp overdrive made louder by the amp... Doesn't work if you're using a Twin with the volume at 3, tho...
There are many, many choices, but without knowing what type of sound you want out of your low gain od, I would say the Clark/Barber Gainster is a great choice. Very amp like, tweed od. You can also crank the gain and get some singing leads.
I also use my Eternity as a lower gain od a lot. But for half the price, I would go with the Gainster.
A Paul C. timmy if you can wait that long.
+ 1 - The sweetest low gain OD on the planet IMO.
Also GREAT for stacking before or after other OD's. Seems pricey until you realise it's versatility.
Marshall Bluesbreaker I pedal...low gain and very sweet tone, especially through fenderish amps...stacks well with other pedals also. Definitely has some color to the tone, but in a nice nice way.
thanks, the barber seems great, I was thinking about a Zendrive too, haven't decided yet the other ones mentioned will be considered too.
My rig is a buddah head into a Randall 212 cab, looking for a low gain/mild OD for rythm guitar parts. there you have.
I like the Eternity for low gain stuff at gig/jam volume.
Xotic AC Booster can do mild.
Zoom Power Drive - Doesn't loose low end like lots of other pedals. Doesn't overcompress. Doesn't give you too much hair. Just makes your amp sound bigger, better and more overdriven. Can range from a clean boost to nice breakup.
