    Hi

    I am lookin for:
    - bedroom amp, i.e., an amp that can deliver exceptionally beautiful clean sounds with a 6l6 blend [i already have the mesa lss as a low powered el 84 amp]
    - with 6l6 tubes and fendery voicing {like my old Hot Rod wich was toooo powerful!!!)
    - with amazing reverb
    - with - if possible - effective master volume
    - in a combo or head
    - and non vintage

    ... So far:
    - Carr Rambler
    - Mesa Lonestar Classic

    - and?

Fell free to share your love/hate experience and helping me in my quest!

    Thanks

    T

There was a thread earlier about the King Amplification Tigerhund.
18w with Power Scaling, 6L6 w/ reverb, available head or combo.

By the way, I would be also interested in Bruno CT II with 6l6 .. but I am afraid it remains also too powerful.

Here's the amp you're looking for...Gries Sea Horse.

    8 watts with a 6L6, 5 watts with a 6V6. Reverb and a master in a 1x12 combo.

    Can you say "cool?"

could always get a fender princeton reverb and re-bias for 6l6's, I use a Blackface princeton at home and I can run the volume up to about 4 without noise complaints:)

Victoria Regal II--you can run it with one or with 2 6L6 tubes (or any other tube-6v6, el34, 5881), killer reverb, trem, very blackface--ish tones, and it's pure class A, so even with two 6L6 tubes and the volume cranked it's actually not that loud

The Gries Sea Horse (strange name) looks like a fantastic amp - all of the tone shaping features needed in a low watt tube amp !

    The Gries looks nice!

The Carr Mercury has also been considered. Even if the amp has great features, I perceive the voicing of the amp makes it more British than American - even with 6L6 inside.

Personally I feel that the Lone Star Special and Classic aren't THAT far apart tonewise. The Special is more balanced whereas the Classic has excessive bottom end.

I'm curious why you "perceive" the amp to be Britiah voiced?

    Thanks

I've been told that on the one hand, the amp has not the typical 6L6 sound when you put such types of tubes.

On the other hand, I think this amp has not been designed to be a clean machine (as the Carr Rambler can be). It has more been designed to be naturally cranked at low volumes. Am I wrong?

Cornell romany plus. 10W, 1x12" with tube reverb, power reduction and 1x6L6 and switchable tone stack for more gain. very nice amp.

I didn't like any of the other Carr amps, but the Rambler is a gem. It's mode switch drops down the wattage and really makes it silky and smooth. The verb is great, too. It is one of the warmest 6L6 amps I have heard...
