i just picked it up for 1/2 price at CCity. Her guitarist is just wonderful. i think he plays a Zemitis? spelling? LP among others. i caught a PBS special with her recently too. how do you describe the voice? kind rough like she's been thru some hard times. not your typical blues rock star.....great stuff.

I describe her voice like I describe Taj Mahal's...

"Forty miles of bad road."

And yes, I love both of them.

Pettibone is a great guitarist, but it is too much to ask him to be the only guitarist (aside from lucinda) in concert. The sound is just not the same without the multi-guitar interplay.

Just saw Lucinda tonight at the 930 club in DC. She had 2 guitarists with her and it was a great show, much better than previous shows of lucinda's. Lucinda was in top form. She's gotten herself in shape, she dressed nicely and her vocals were very strong. The performance was even better than the 1998 ACL show on DVD. Lucinda was very lively, was dancing around (not well mind you but still good to see her into it), and her songbook was hardly a distraction. Her new boyfriend has really turned her around.

Both guitarists were great - having the 2 of them made for a much much better concert than Pettibone alone on guitar. I always wondered why Lucinda could not have hired another guitarist to play on tour before. Catch her on this tour - absolutely great show tonight.

Schemmerhorne was really good when I saw Lucinda last week. There were little things I missed about Pettibone but thought Schemmerhorne and Chet Lyster did a wonderful job. Hey JamminJoe, Lucinda's had Chet in her band since sometime in the fall of 2007 I believe so Pettibone hasn't always been alone out there.

Thanks for that piece of info. I've seen her twice before, and it was just a 3 piece band behind her each time. The more guitars, the better with Lucinda.

I saw her at one show and she was wearing a sloppy loose t-shirt, relied very heavily on her cheat sheets, and stopped and started 2 songs due to mistakes on her part. This was just 2 years ago before "West" came out.

This was a completely different show. I was completely satisfied with this show. I found a good review of it here. I went to the second night's show, which appears to have been the better show:

Hey - Pettibone was the only reason for going to her concerts for the last 3 years and I for one will not be buying any more of her stuff.

Last time I saw her in London she dressed very nicely indeed but unfortunatley she sang like a drain and acted like a stoned child - all coquettish and cloying 'please love me please love me' - just so irritating.

Glad she has got herself together now but after such amateurism and now given the absence of the great Doug Pettibone I for one will not follow again........

This is good news since I'll be seeing her Saturday night.

Pettibone has done a couple of her albums and has been her guitarist on tour for the past 5 years or so, but Lucinda has worked with many other guitarists. And I would say they've all been great. Schemmerhorne is no exception to this.

Well, Lucinda's show last night was nothing short of spectacular. She was in fine form and he voice was very strong. She kept commenting on how good the room sounded. The Wellont Theater just started having concerts last year, it was my first time there and it's a great venue. Unfortunately, I missed Buick 6's (her band) opening set, which I was told was very good. Lyster and Schemmerhorne were simply amazing with the kind of rhythm and lead interplay that goes on between Keith and Ronnie, only by two more talented players (IMO).

She closed the show with a solo acoustic version of Hendrix' Angel which was stunningly beautiful.

All in all, a wonderful show that far exceeded my expectations.
