luggage vs plastic case?

Which solid body guitar case do you prefer?

  1. wooden framed luggage type (i.e. G&G)

  2. molded plastic type

Which do you prefer, the G&G type luggage case or the molded plastic type case for your solid body guitars, and why?

I have a few plastic style cases and they are my least favorite because they never seem to close soundly or line up correctly at the edge. Plus they just feel cheaper to me and maybe more importantly they're more prone to closing on your guitar when you're removing it hello ding.

I like the look of luggage style cases better, but find a lot of the G&G type cases only support the neck at one point.

Neither...but only because I just got my first fibreglass Calton case. I could stand on this thing and the top wouldn't budge a millimetre...and I'm a big guy.

The problem is I need about six more...they're not cheap.

I prefer the molded plastic because they are not as heavy. I take three guitars to gigs and I don't usually travel so it makes a difference.

I like the light weight of the plastic but the G&G type cases are easier to pack in our trailer.

Neither. I like the hard foam + cordura hybrid cases. They seem as strong as regular hard cases, but have the versatility/lightness of gig bags.
