    Can't say I do not like the tone, but it sounds nothing like a strat to me.

    Hi - I'm glad you can't say you don't like the tone. :) Traditional strat sound often eludes me in some regards because my ears seem to want to hear something different than most, so I'm not sure what you are missing in the sound, but its probably not the pickups.

    I think we'd find the set sounds a lot more traditional played through something like a Super Reverb, although the set is really designed to keep a strat from sounding thin with distortion. So there is a specific mindset involved in their design beyond just a good classic strat tone. There are some other videos on YT too, that show them in a band context. Here is one by Hans.
