I was thinking that so many people enjoy guitar builds...many of us excitedly post the photos we get as our guitars are being built...wouldn't it be cool if those who are always building, posted what they were working on? Or maybe just wanted to share an "I crossed this hurdle today" or "check out this wood grain" or...

Anyway, here's hoping that there are some luthiers on TPG who think so too! :)

Here's one I'm currently making just for general sale. Claro Walnut front and back, padauk core, maple, wenge, black walnut layers. It'll have an ebony board and the full complement of my Garcia type builds... you can see more of that on the iocustomguitars.com website.

You know, just that one post has accomplished one of the things I was hoping this thread would do...bring luthiers to my (and others) attention that I'd never heard of. Thanks for the link to your site. It's nice to know who's out there building sometimes (in this case for me) somewhat under the radar.

Thanks for your kind words, and yes, it is going to be beautiful. It's hard to see the character/quality of the wood right now, but the top and back have some really lovely grays and blues, as well as the walnut colors of reds and browns... I think it'll be really nice when the red of the padauk calms down a bit.

I actually really like the red. That claro walnut is quite beautiful too. I hope you will update when it's done.

Love those body styles! Is that spalted maple in that 2nd photo? Or?

Thanks for starting the thread, PW214! Here's some of what is currently on my bench:

^ This one is for a metal-playing client. Beveled edges, white limba with macassar ebony top and back plates. 5-piece neck, with an ebony fretboard from the same board as the body. 26.5" scale length, Bare Knuckle pickups incoming.

Just glued up the neck on this Saint Genevieve today. This earlier pic gives a better idea of the shape than the pic I took today.

Working up the prototype of my Giasemi model. Currently looking like this:

And if you look closely, you can see that the pick guard is totally a jalapeño.

    Website/Instagram/etc in my sig!

That first one...just WOW, Rich. It's just got everything right about it. Can't wait to see it finished!

The others are very cool too, and I love the humor in the jalapeño pick guard, but that first one just bowled me over!

A number of builders, myself included, have threads over in the "builders and retailers" section, but it's cool to see everything in one thread. These are 2 of the projects on my bench now. An Anzol, with a solid white neck (my first time doing so) and a hollow 12-string with All the hardware powdercoated red.

Here is fun one that I'm grain filling today. Its swamp ash with black walnut trim, Dusenberg multibender, and is getting a couple Stringmaster style pickups from Bryan at BG-Pups. First pic is a rough mockup dry and second pic is wet down with a little naphtha to show color.

I didn't realize that there were build threads over there. I thought it was for new & finished merchandise. That's good to know. I admit though, it's great to check in to this thread and see what wonders are posted today. Sort of like TGP's own Willy Wonka room! lol

Nice. I'm looking forward to seeing how this evolves. Guessing the specs are currently a secret?

    Agreed!

I've always thought that lap guitars were cool. Don't own one. Not even sure how to play one, but I appreciate the design/style! The wood on this is beautiful.

Every time I see a guitar posted here I think "what IS that wood?" Whether it's the fingerboard on this one (wow...love that design) or I'm trying to guess, in the case of this body...is it black Limba?

and I didn't quote you again, Rosser Guitars...but ever since I saw that headstock with the uneven pegs, I've been thinking how much I loved it! This is a great thread everyone. Thanks for participating.

I suspect dog-ears and a trapeze will be involved.
    (or something much more compelling...)
    Very cool at any rate.
