Maestro MPF v. "cocked wah"

Other than relatively low gain/fuzz and an added upper octave, it has been debated whether the best way to achieve Homme/Queens Of The Stone Age tones is a COCKED WAH (a la Dunlop Crybaby Q-Zone) or a FILTER/EQ (a la Maestro MPF-1) effect.

What do you prefer/recommend? I ask because I'm planning some rehousing/mods to both or either types of circuits to have a full-feature, rack multi-effect.

Update: I guess both of the aforementioned types of effects are doing more-or-less the same thing to the signal -- band-pass filtration. So what do you recommend/prefer to get that sound???

I guess I was under the impression that the inductor in a wah processes signal differently than an EQ boost/cut.

I think either one would work.

Lots of peeps like the Stone Deaf PDF-1 and/or PDF-2 for this.

I was originally thinking about putting 2 PDFs in-series in one enclosure, so I could achieve 3 different settings; the expression pedal option is too munch I think, mostly because I already have volume and expression pedals on my no. 1 board.
