One of the greats, no doubt. Magic Sam doesn't get as much credit, as he deserves because he left us too early...

A HUGE thumbs up for Live At The Alex Club & In Ann Arbor, in my top ten Desert Island Discs for sure. Rockin' Wild in Chicago is similarly legendary.

You can hear where Hendrix got some of his tone when listening to the live Ann Arbor stuff; played the White Strat too. Black Magic; one of the great modern electric blues albums. The man could sing too!

It's been a while since I've seen this.

This might ruffle a few feathers here but I'll say it anyway...I love Billy Gibbons but he ain't got nothin on Magic Sam!~

Magic Sam is Chicago Blues, West Side Soul is IMHO one of the greatest Blues albums ever recorded.

I have always loved Magic Sam, had not listened to him in a long time, and had never seen the youtube clips. That version of the "Boogie" with that tone and the pile-driving groove he gets plucking like that is just some spine-tingling, primordial s**t.

    I've always liked this performance.

    Earl was John Lee's cousin.
You're in for a treat if you're starting on the Earl journey.

They were both on the same tour in Europe, maybe they just decided to share one guitar, or something happened to Sam's... Sam usually favored a strat.
