Here's one of my absolute favorite videos of Magic Sam, unreal groove, soul and style. Raw, viscous tone on Earl Hooker's cheap Univox Les Paul copy. "Magic Sam Boogie" is insane, that syncopated riff is incredible! and so difficult to capture his feel and swing, it ain't the notes but the massive soul-stirring grease. It's like Excalibur, only Magic Sam could pull that Univox Les Paul outta that rock and OWN that riff and feel. I watched too many Partridge Family Shows and ate way too many Pringles and mayonnaise sandwiches to pull off that kinda soulfulness. :) Also, I love that the drummer has his wallet on the snare, either to deaden the snare or keep his money where no one can get to it. Pure and bad to the bone Mr "Magic Sam Boogie":

Here's the complete clip with interview at the start and then "All Your Love" and "Magic Sam Boogie"

Very special clip and person. His playing at the Ann Arbor blues festival just kills me every time I hear it.

Perfect for TGP!!! Mr Tone on a P.O.S., bolt-on neck $150 LP copy!!!

After years of dicking around with that boogie, to finally get to SEE him play it; especially the right hand! One of my favorite singers, too.

That's the real deal, a powerful beast of a groove played by one of the greats. Thank you.

In the second video it looks like he's playing through a Marshall half stack. Yum...

Yeah, he probably had to suffer with whatever was there for a backline!

    Thank you for the vids!

You mean to tell me he could play like that without Bumblebee caps, braz boards, flame tops, stainless steel frets, burstbuckers, and plek jobs?!

Just awesome. The tone is so real, earthy and just plain powerful. Thanks Greg for this and Merry Christmas to you also!
