I'd be more worried about the set of non-matching socks...

    NOW that's a definite no-no:eeks

    +1

It's always a joy to be sitting on the Metro, confining my person to half or less of the seat area, and have a man of exceeding size plant himself next to me and then relax his hamhock of a leg against my leg as if I were part of the scenery.

I refuse to go to the movies with one of my friends because he always does this.

Might seem trivial, but if you take the train everyday, this stuff gets annoying.
(And the backpack idiots DO suck)

Men are built different from women, and I'm not talking about the obvious. Our hips are more narrow. We cannot sit with our knees together without feeling lower back pain.
However, there are some fools who take it to the extreme though.

Those are annoying but we still tiptoe around "fatspreading". (Why yes I do laugh at low-brow meme's on twitter.)

Just another example of entitled jerks claiming more than is their right in this "no one is more important than me" world. Screw everyone else!

    True.

Playing devil's advocate though, I'll venture to say that when I was slim, I never did this, but now that I'm overweight, it's uncomfortable to not do this when seated. But I understand that in cases like in the OP's picture, that's just being inconsiderate.

You all are carrying on like a bunch of clucking hens about this. Don't you have anything more important to natter about, or have you already solved the other pressing problems of the day?

Pointing out an inconsiderate act that maybe others don't even know they're doing (I'll give the benefit of doubt) is not really "nattering on".
We all have to exist together in this world... good manners help!

Fair enough. I guess I don't find it as objectionable as other lapses in decorum that I see every day, but I don't ride the bus or the train anymore, so maybe it's an issue. If it is an issue, though, it's certainly not a new one. Why the sudden outrage?

When i get in my big Prius eating truck in the morning I sprawl. Makes the 2 minute drive to work comfortable. My Tundra has a center console so no one else's legs will touch mine.
    My socks don't match.

    It's rough out there.

I've been lucky so far. Only had a couple of guys manspread on me on the metro. In wintertime when I have my thickest jacket on, I can deploy it as a defensive shield, lol.

I do wish the seat layout was like the NYC subway's - just two rows of seats per car (one on each side) and plenty of standing room in the middle. The bus-like seat layout wastes a lot of space.

I guess you don't take the train every day. Or maybe you do love having another man's leg/thigh up against your bod.

It's got its disadvantages (manpsreaders, getting whacked in the face by a backpack, crowding, etc.) but I prefer it to driving to work every day.
