I've noticed that the lower edge of my fretboard is getting worn away. From the 3rd to the 7th fret the finish is gone, the wood and fret ends are slightly beveled. It's not interfering with the high E-string yet.

I did that by rubbing it with my hand, a lot. The top bout of the body is also bare wood with a beveled edge, courtesy of my forearm and acid sweat.

I estimated that since 1986 I've played that neck for over 20,000 hours, about half of that since it was refretted and refinished in 2002.

Can't decide whether to start looking for a replacement soft-V skunk-stripe Tele neck w/9.5 radius, or find a good Strat and get some whammy bar action into my life.

Just keep playing it. There has to be another 20k in there somewhere.
