Last week I finally took delivery of my Culbertson guitar. Some of you may know Marc from the Gilmer wood company (one of the premier sources of wood for luthiers). I take it most of you have never heard of him.

This guitar establishes Marc as a true master luthier in my opinion. I have had so much great gear through my hands that it is pretty hard to impress me. But this guitar blows me away. The hand rubber oil finish just adds to the MOJO.

Black limba one piece body, perfectly quartersawn maple neck, one piece carved quilt top. The neck was templated from a Gjika guitar neck and Marc just nailed it.

How does it sound? Organic. It rings like a bell. I have never had a guitar that I can feel the string vibrations so strongly against my body. The neck has no dead spots and the playability is incredible ( if you like GIANT necks):D

I have some pics. If someone can help me host them, I would appreciate it.

I've played a couple of Marc's guitars at Gilmer's. I liked them a lot. They were very musical. He had one that was a cross between a Tele and a LP Jr with a sapelle neck that just sounded wonderful. And yes, his necks tend to be VERY big.

Big fan of Marc. he's been threatening to send me a guitar for years now. I got all of my Baker White Limba from Marc, who has always gone out of his way to hook me up with the very best Gilmer has to offer (even if it comes out of his private stash).

    Great guy.

I bought some wood from Marc. He was extremely helpful and very nice considering I had no idea of what I was doing.

    Cool guitar!

I've bought some wood from Marc and he is awesome to deal with. Very patient guy and full of helpful tips.

I like the one piece top and the way the frets climb up on the single coil pickup!
