Anybody know what fuzz he used?
Dallas Rangemaster and cranked Fender amps.
Live that may be, but in the studio I suspect there were fuzz effects used. I also suspect some of the fuzz guitar sounds on T-Rex albums were recorded straight into the board, with no amp or mike in the signal path.
There are several studio shots on the net of Bolan with Rangemaster's on top his amps.
I'm not saying that's all he used, it's just the only thing I've ever seen in photo's.
I think I've read something about Tonebenders, but I may be wrong!
Yeah, I was going to say Tonebenders - again though couldn't tell you where I heard it!
Actually, remembered where I heard it:
Tonebender is what I suspected but a rangemaster makes sense to. hmmmm
Colorsound Overdriver also and Rangemaster. The riff in Jeepster sounds like an Overdriver to me.
Fender or Marshall's live?
I seem to recall seeing photos of Marshall stacks on stage. But then again, I am old and senile.
I saw T-rex live, (yes I am an oldie) He had Marshalls onstage.
Never really paid much attention to that though, what with all the beautifull, young , screamin girlies surrounding me, who would?
When I saw Marc he was using just a Wah (mostly half cocked - or as a tone control) direct into a NMV Marshall (exact model unknown). He wasn't a great guitar player but he knew what rocked. They had a trick of doubling guitar parts with Sax which was effective.
