Marshall 1980 JMP vs 1974X (Handwired Reissue)

I have a Marshall Master Model 50W Mk2 Lead (2x12 combo). I am considering getting the Marshall handwired 1974x. What are the main tonal differences (other than Trem on the 1974x)? Redundant to have both? Which is "better?"

depends on volume.
compare them at a small gig, equal low volume - probably not substantial.
when recording each at their individual volume sweet spots, you'll get two pretty distinct tones, as the power tubes dominate the tone more.
plus the obvious 101, features, headroom, etc ...

might be worth considering other EL84 amps too, for variety.

ymmv,

To me they sound pretty different. Based on personal experience I'd go with the JMP combo unless there was something off about it and it was particularly bad sounding.

Keep the JMP! Good luck finding one again in a few years (without paying a premium). You can always make a big amp lower. You can't really make a smaller amp louder.
