Marshall 1987X has more headroom now?

    My 1987X recently got cleaner sounding. I used to get the distortion I wanted at 6 on the volume. Now its at 8 for the same distortion.
    I run the amp with no bright cap. I put back a 100 bright cap, but it didn't help. I don't like it with the stock cap.
    Could the amp breaking in give it more headroom?
    What tweaks can give it gain quicker?

    Time to re-bias maybe.

    Tryed new tubes and its biased correctly.

    do you have a less effecient speaker laying around, so it break up earlier. I had a clone, had to get rid of it was to loud for my needs
