Marshall 2061CX 2x12!?

Hey guys,

Does anyone have experience with this or similar cabinets? Since I have plenty of standard horizontal 2x12 cabs and a nice 4x12, I thought it could be nice to have a vertical cab or a cab with speakers set diagonally like this Marshall 2061 cabinet.

The other popular cab on the market like this is the Bogner Goldfinger 2x12 closed and open back where the speakers are set diagonally.

Stage Craft makes a really nice one called the Blackjack 2x12 Diagonal.
I am leaning toward getting this cab or a custom cab with different dimensions.

Any thoughts on these diagonal compared to standard vertical or horizontal cabs?

I have the Marshall 2061cx cab and have owned and played Marshall cabs with horizontal and vertical speaker placement.

Soundwise or with respect to sound dispersión, I cannot hear any difference when gigging or during rehearsal.

In a sense , diagonal placement is both horizontal and vertical.

I have the 2061cx with the stock g12h30's. I also use a vertical 2x12 Mesa cab with V30's. They both sound great. I think the 2061 is more bassy but I also find it to be less directional than the Mesa. To me it fills out the room a little better than the Mesa. I do prefer the Mesa for my higher gain Marshall's. I use the 2061cx with a JTM and JMP.

Believe it or not. Two things bother me about the Marshall 2061cx cab.
1) Does it produce enough bass since it is 12" deep.
2) I read that it is not a trued slant because the front baffle is just a total tilted from bottom to top. True?
I wish it was wider to accommodate larger amp heads. It will look weird with a full size Marshall head.
For that reason, I am looking to have Stae Craft cabs create a custom cab based on this and their Black Jack diagonal cab with a wider size.

I have a 2061cx, loaded with Heritage GB's. It's a quality cab, and sounds (and looks) awesome with the 2061x head.

I also have the similar Mojotone slant 2x12. It' a smidge bigger, and has a slanted baffle that the 2061cx does not. The 2061cx has a center post, where the Mojo does not. I think the Mojo is deeper.

I also have a Stagecraft 1x12 blackjack, and it's a quality product.

In the end, all quality products. I am happy with each in their application.

Because it is narrow and won't support a full size Marshall head.....I am going to have Stage Craft make me this cab wit a 29.5" width.

For my purposes, it has been by far my fav 2x12 cab. I don't play with super high wattage or db's. It has plenty of low end for me, but never too much. The best speakers that I have found are the Heritage GH30's - it just exudes Marshall tones. I have used this cab with multiple amps with the same results, including Two Rock, Dr Z, Reeves, Marshall 2553, Fender, etc. The cab is constructed from plywood and not MFP. It is a very manageable weight and size to move.

The only complaint I have is in regards to the hardware. It would be great if Marshall would use metal female nuts and screws on the back panel, instead of just wood screws. After time and repeated speaker swapping, the wood screws will strip out the holes. It can be an easy fix with wood glue and toothpicks/wood dust, but annoying. I have also had one of the speaker mounting nuts strip out of the front wood baffle. If you are not a gear goof ball and swap speaker out like me, it is a non issue.

Rivals a 412 in terms of sonic footprint/size. Very nice low end
thump and it doesn't take two people to carry it up a staircase
either. I loaded mine with WGS speakers and am extremely
pleased. Small box plexi style head fits the width very well.

You have the Marshall? I will either get the Mojotone or Stage Craft because they can make the cab 14" deep like a Mesa Boogie and also Stage Craft can make the cab a few inches wider to accommodate a large size amp head.

I believe I would do 29.8x27x14

Hopefully a few inches in width will not hurt the tone or cause boominess?

Or...I could get the standard size and not use that cab with large heads or just deal with it! LOL

Yes mine is the Marshall 2061x. I would say that some of the "clones" may be just as good and possibly better in construction. I purchased my 20161x used. If I had to choose (and pay) for a new purchase 2061cx style cab, it probably would not be Marshall - just because of the high cost for the name plate.

yeah, marshall uses garbage screws on a lot of their gear. ive had 3 products and they all had really, really 'soft' screws that immediately wear even if youre careful to not strip them.

I've yet to try one but I've never heard a bad thing about them.

Just bought a 2061X too, but I have a badass Bob Burt custom cab for her so I probably won't have the need for the Marshall cab.

I have a 2061cx I use with an alessandro blue tick head , I like it and am lookin for a second . It is not actually a slanted baffle , just the grill ,which is fine with me . the last thing I want is a speaker pointing at my head .Ive not heard a lot of other cabinets but this one is doin what I need so i'm not gonna mess with sucess

I love the way the 2061 cabs look but everytime I get ready to pull the trigger I find another used old school metal grill Boogie vertical thiele 2x12--those cabs just sound HUGE.
