I just got my new Marshall 2061X last week. Fantastic amp ! i played a show with it and ive rehersed with it and everything else. My les paul and SG sound perfect with it and my Vox Wah. Its mucho loud and with the CX Cab it pushes quite a bit of air. has anyone with this amp tried diffrent tubes or distortion pedels with it? Im not trying to change the "type" or "Tone" of the gain, just want it a tad bit nasty-er.
Ive heard that these dont have the extra gain section that the 100 Watt-ers have so i guess im really just trying to make up the difrence and make it a true MINI plexi.

(I have noticed that this amp really responds to difrent Pickups and new strings even, and its also gotten more breakup as ive broken it in.)

A klon for sure.

Also, a good fuzz pedal is key too. Those amps are sweet! Congrats.

Congratulations on your purchase. It´s a great amp. I too have the Marshall 2061x and 2061cx cab and currently have it with RCA 12ax7 and Ei El84. The only pedal that I occasionally use is the original Marshall Bluesbreaker and I´m happy with the sound.

This amp is capable of producing a loud sparkling clean sound through the Bass ch. without jumpering. Here´s what you do:
-plug your guitar into the top input of the BASS ch.
-turn the Tone knob of the BASS ch. to 10.
-on the LEAD ch. turn both Tone and Volume knob to almost 8.
-finally, turn the volume knob of the BASS ch. up to taste.

Sweet, Cause i def dont want to mod it. Does the tone change without jumpering? i havent tried it.

Yes, the tone changes without jumpering. If you are plugged into the BASS ch., rotating the Volume and Tone knobs on the LEAD ch. will greatly effect the tonality.

On the other hand if you are plugged into the LEAD ch., rotating th knobs on the BASS ch. will not effect the tonality at all.

Try it , you will be surprised !

Hey Thanks!

Just tried that and it sounds great. I have had the amp for a number of years and did not know that option. I would not have thought the treb channel controls would do anything when not plugged in. That is why I love this place!

You can add midrange growl by setting the Tone and Volume knobs on the LEAD ch. to 10 and the Tone knob of the BASS ch. to 8.
