Does anybody have any info or links that would help me date my Marshall cab? The serial number is 54002, and the head I bought it with (30 years ago) was made in 1974. I've found plenty of serial number info for heads, but so far nothing for cabs. Anybody got anything?

Just noticed that I posted this in the wrong area.

I don't think it can be nailed down with serial numbers. Speakers are the best, if you know they're original. Besides that, it gets down to construction details. Did you buy it new? Any pics, in particular pics of the inside.

Speakers are original, to the best of my knowledge. I haven't changed them since I bought it. I'll shoot some pics tonight.

I think I found my answer. Speaker codes date them to March and April, 1974. 3 of them are coded DG2 and 1 is CG26. Since the accompanying head was dated 4/19/74, I'm pretty confident that the cab is from the same year. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

What are the codes on the frames? There should be two a T1221 if it is a greenback lead or something like that if it is something else and a two letter two number combination that will be the date.

From the pictures I would guess 73,74, 75.

T1221 is correct. It does sound great, but I'm getting to an age where the sound isn't quite worth the weight for me any more. Lugging it around has kinda lost its charm.

What is the other code? That tells you the date. The T1221 tells me those are 25 watt 75 Hz greenbacks.
