So I'm going to buy a used Marshall JCM2000 and a Marshall 1960A cab. I play blues, rock, hard rock, metal, heavy metal, progressive metal, and jazz fusion. What would be better for my style? I'm looking for a high gain sound with a tight bottom end and singing highs. I like good sustain too. What is more versatile, what has better tone, and what is better for my style?

I owned both of those amps, traded a DSL100 for a TSL100. I could get the TSL to cop all the same tones as the DSL, plus it has the third channel for more options.

I've read a lot of hoo-hah on TGP about how much better the DSL sounds, but that was not my experience. I'd go for the TSL if I were you. In fact, I did.

I owned a TSL 100 some years back, and have a DSL50 in now. Actually traded the TSL straight up for the DSL. I prefer the DSL. To me, it sounds bigger and more organic. The TSL was nice, don't get me wrong. But, it sounded thinner to my ears than the DSL. I'm really more of a "simple" amp kind of guy so the DSL fits my needs better for what I do.

The TSL will do the metal thing a bit better than the DSL...but the DSL is a more open, organic sounding amp...of course YMMV, IMHO and all that...

I actually went with a brand new Rivera KnuckleHead Tre Reverb. Btter than both of those 2 combined.
