    Hi all,

I'm looking to buy a Marshall Combo tube amp for under $1500. Any particular ones I should look into? I'll be using it for live and recording. Something about 5o Watt or lower would be good.

    Thanks:crazyguy

Ceriatone would be a good bet. You can buy a cab from mojotone, or just build one, or hire someone to build it for you.

JCM 800 4104 2x12 combo or a 4010 1x12. Yopu should be able to find a great example for around $1000.00. That will leave you a few extra bucks for a speaker swap if needed.

The only thing new will probably be the DSL401.
Really depends on what you want to do with it and if you go used, there are many more options for you.

Look for a used 1974x. Just make sure the OT has been upgraded or the amp was made after 2006 as I think that's when Marshall corrected the faulty OT issue.

1974X, Bluesbreaker, 800 and 900 combos are all under 1500 used.

Id suggest a DSL head and a 4x12 or maybe go with a 2x12 if you don't think you will need a 4x12. I have a recent 50 watt dsl head and love it. I run mine thru a 1x12 for practice and have a 1960A for gigging.

You should be able to get the dsl head for well under a grand and can often find the head and 1960 cab for around a grand or slightly more depending on condition.
