    Gents,

I've been looking for a Marshall style EL34 combo, something that goes up to around 50 watts. There doesn't seem to be many on the market though. What would you people suggest? I found the Mesa Stiletto Ace that looks quite promising although I've never really fancied Mesa's. I also think Bad Cat had an class A/B- amp that could have been EL34 in their range, but their website is still not ready.

Any others? What do you think of the Mesa Stiletto Ace?

    Cheers!

I would without a doubt purchase a Germino Lead 55 2/12 combo......One of the most amazing amps in tube amp history....If you need to play at lower volumes sometime, also purchase a THD Hotplate to go along with it...Fat Sound out of nc sells them....stunning amp...{I also own one, and play out live with one}...It is the ultimate Marshall!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Germino looked good! I was only worried it maybe voiced a little too much for lead playing. Is this so?

I'll have to check the Bogner nxt...

I don't think so...The Lead 55 cleans up real nice when you lower your guitar volume, better than many channel swithers out there, cause you get the same feel...It's a fairly amazing balance

Sewell Texaplex is a cool take on the 2XEl34 thing.
Aiken Invader is another very good take on it.

The Bumbox Cielo is nice! It's basically a handwired Marshall 1987 circuit. I loved mine but it was too much for playing at home so now I have a Bumbox Lead 12 which is a Marshall 18 watt clone with a Scumback 12".

The Bogner has an amazing Master Volume, reverb and a great effects loop. My bandmate (Bullfrogblues) has one and it amazes me everytime I hear it. I'm pretty happy with my Fuchs at the moment but if I ever get another amp it will be a shiva. Garanteed.

Hi there! Both the Shiva and the Germino 55 sounded brilliant. I already have an 18W Marshall so the Bumbox is not what I'm looking for. Thanks for the recommendation!

I thik I would like that EL34 tone that is reminiscent of late 70's bands. I wonder what amps Paul Stanley used to track Kiss rhythm parts? Or Tom Scholz on Boston I? I'd like that in a combo!

Any more offers? Anyone tried the Orange Rocker 30?

The Bumbox Cielo has 2 EL34's it isn't an 18 watt amp. It's a Marshall Plexi circuit.

Germino makes a few amps that would do just fine.

If money's an issue. Try the Marshall 3203/4203.

a germino club 40 with rectifier switch. go for the high voltage tranny if you like headroom and tighter bass.
Get a 2x12 (or 1x12) combo with G12H 75hz scumback, G12H 55hz heritage, scumback or weber or just a weber ceramic blue dog

If you are on a budget at all, I'd check out the Traynor YCV50blue.

Oh no! I really don't like those amps!! But thanks for chipping in, I'm grateful for that!

I just realised that it is impossible to get a Germino here in Finland. There are no distributors in Europe and after I pay for shipping from USA and taxes etc. the amp is going to be ridiculously expensive.

I'm still looking for alternatives... Sewell Texaplex? I'll check it out!
