I can get a brand new one for $900 from GC. I've only ever been able to get one usable tone out of them. Who has one or has tried one? The cabs that go with them are killer. I can get a cab for $500.

It's on my list of amps to try. Just finally got around to playing one and I was suprised how much I dug it. How are you getting it for the $900? Last time I was at GC I did see one on clearance for $900.

Not thrilled with the build quality and component choices I've seen for reliability. Just my take...

I never see DSL or TSL anymore. They didn't stop production of those amps did they?

With the Vintage Modern you've got one channel and a boost. If you run that channel clean the boost will increase the volume probably more than you'll want. If you're cranked the boost is manageable and just takes you from overdriven to way overdriven.

I really like the concept, in fact it reminds me a lot of how I modded my JCM800, PPIMV and prejumpered channels. But I do not like the way it's assembled at all it's built like a TSL with multiple PCBs and ribbon cables.

It is something of a one trick pony, but it's a very good trick. If only they'd built it right. For the price you're talking about, no complaints.

Maybe not the amp for you.

I knew within 10 minutes it was going home with me.

If there's really only one usable tone you're getting out of it...I'd pass.
