Well I am now gasing for the new affordable Martin John Lennon D-28 that just came out, without all the extra bling on it. I am searching the web for a dealer that will give me the best deal. Thank goodness I don't have a family, or I would be in deep trouble for buying guitars all the time. The summer Namm Show is just around the corner, and that just gets me geared up for the big winter show in California, which I always end up having my sales guy from GC order me a guitar I always spot at the Fender Custom Shop booth.
Does anyone else have this guitar addiction?

$5500 is affordable? No snark meant here, its just that a regular D-28 is around $2700. Did Martin come out with another version of the John Lennon D-28? Oh and I would say that just about everyone on this forum has a guitar addiction. :)

Just buy an HD-28, you'll like the scalloped bracing more in the end than the gimmick-y inlays.

Compared to the 11,999.00 model, "affordable" isn't so far off.

    It's all relative!

For myself, I don't really have much use for a dread, and I prefer Martins with "-18" in the name, and some zeros. But that's just me.

I have gotten one price quote so far for this guitar, and it is not in the five thousand dollar range. I would not pay that price for an acoustic guitar, only a Fender Custom Shop Master Built Strat.
I do want the gimmicky inlay, because I am a Beatle fanatic and anything with a Beatle to me is cool.:aok:cool:

I find this guitar odd. Lennon took the pickguard off of his D-28 and made it even more plain. The inlays all over this thing look out of place.

I am starting to have second thoughts on this guitar. I just pulled out my Martin D-35 that I forgot I had bought in 2004 and that guitar rocks. Maybe I really don't need this Lennon model after all. I am going to stop and take a step back for a while.

Maybe it's very hard to get right now? Sometimes retailers hold out for list in that case, don't know if Sweetwater would.

I guess I am just tired in dealing with these sales guys at guitar stores giving me useless information that has nothing to do with anything. One guy told me he had #2 of this guitar in his store out of the series and it will be valuable.
I had to correct him, letting him know that this guitar is not in a limited series at all and #2 doesn't mean poop to me! The fun of buying a new guitar in this century has left me numb and non eventful.
