I am seriously considering one of these, but with only 50 made, it's tough to get a lot of info on them. I called Phil at Matchless, but must have got him on a bad day as he was very short and basically no help on my Avenger questions. I understand they are more BF Fender sounding than traditional voxy ( c30)... Does anyone know if they are similar in tone to Mark Sampson's SMF15 or a Sommatone Roaring 40?

I have exhausted Avenger owner AeeCee and Dakotajones with my questions, so curious if anyone else may be able to chime in on my question and the Avenger in general.

    Cheers

All I know is that the clean tones from that amp still haunt me. It was in a 4x10 configuration .... I don't know how they sound cranked up.

From what I know in talking to Phil....The pre-amp is the same or similar to the Chieftain with a C-30 power section. Sounds like a winner to me!!!

I have been playing one on and off for a few weeks at a local guitar store and decided to do some trading with'em so I will have it next weekend. Great sounding amp, humbucker friendly, can dial it in clean, a little hairy, and also a pretty rockin crunch, nice reverb, overall a great sounding amp,,now just to get the trading done, I like all of the stuff I have now but something has to go, I think it will be worth it, cant wait to get it home and crank it up!!

Congrats man. I didn't know any stores had them, so lucky you! I heard one today and loved it ( the guy was not gonna let it go though!).

Did you play a head or combo? Was it new or used? Congrats again

Delayed for a couple of weeks due to cyclone flooding and freight
company logistics , it arrived this morning. Avenger R212 NOS . Immaculate .
I've bought EL84M high plate voltage tubes and a pair of 5V4G recifiers
to try in place of the standard GZ34 , after I've had a go with the originals. I have to say that the out-sourced cabinet covering technique isn't
a patch on the quality of the inhouse BadCat product . The rest of the package is superb . Heavy ? Oh yeah , it's heavy ; close on 90lb for an R
