Matchless cab ... Gawd, I LOVE this place!

About a year ago I bought a Matchless HC-30 head from Stu at Fat Sound. It is probably the best sounding amp I've ever owned (for ME, of course)! Many amps have come and gone since then, but the HC-30 is rooted here!

Well, it was a '94 model with the old style "suitcase" handle, and it is gray tolex. Very attractive, for sure. I've been using it with various cabs, mostly a TruTone 4x10 that I had built with a darker gray covering, but I've really been itching for a Matchless cab. And, I figured I'd have to settle for one in black tolex.

BUT .... Yesterday I was cruising the Amps & Cabs Emporium and saw that Reverb had a Matchless 2x12 cab for sale, AND IT IS GRAY! I emailed for pics, and BINGO - it's PERFECT!

Not only is it GRAY - it was purchased in '90 and has the same "suitcase" handle as my amp!

Not only that - it is loaded with 15 year old Celestion Blues!!!

Not only that - he has the ORIGINAL shipping carton that has been in his attic for 15 years!

I can't put into words how AMAZED I am! TGP is THE place - no doubt about it!!!

Well, the Matchless cab arrived today. When Reverb said "mint" he wasn't kidding! I've never seen a 15 year old piece of gear in such pristine condition. There's not a scuff or scratch on it.

It sounds terrific. The Blues really bring out the best in my amp. The fact that they're 15 years old and well broken in probably helps.

Oh ... and there's a toggle switch inside the cab to switch between 4 Ohm (series) and 16 Ohm (parallel).

    Here's a peek ........

    Man,
    That IS one sweet rig.
Chuck and I both had one just like it. That was one serious tower of tone, as I'm sure yours is.
I now have a red SC30 that I love with my Teles and Strats.
    The 335 likes it too.
Enjoy, and this place is the shiznit for gear.
