I am ordering a head and cab today and bp need to choose my co,ors. Unfortunately Matchless does not have a head /Cab visualizes n the site, just a combo ( kind of get an idea, but not the same)

What are your favorites that you have seen? I may ignore all of yours, and pick something random, but thought it would be fun to see what the TGP folk love. :rockin

    Cheers

I really dig the shower curtain black on black.
Also the red, or green...and the always tasty classic gray.

IMO, nothing looks cooler & more "Rock 'N' Roll" on a Matchless than the standard black on black with silver grille cloth.

A close second choice would be sharks fin grey with silver grille simply because it's the classic Matchless look when the amps were first introduced back in the early 90's.

Not a fan of the 2-tone color schemes at all.

Yeah, 2 tone is not for everyone. I don't know if I have ever seen the classic grey in a head and cab. Would like to see a pic...

Thanks for posting, as that is really cool. Do you know if that is Matchless dark or light grey tolex? I am guessing dark

I'm not sure if it's considered light grey or dark (??), or if it's even a grey that corresponds to what Matchless offers currently?

All I can say is that both the color & texture of the grey tolex on that amp looks the same as what was used on the very early Matchless amps. Whatever that early grey color & texture tolex is called (??) - it's the classic grey I like best.

Turns out they don't have that grey any longer, but instead a lighter and a darker version, neither which are as cool as that shark fin grey...

Bummer. I loved that look on a Matchless. Well, forget the grey then! :bonk

Hard to go wrong with classic black on black w/silver grille IMO. Stealthy, mean, and very Rock 'N' Roll look.

Not to mention standard black probably has the best resale, AND - no tolex upcharge!

    Just my opinion of course.

Black on black! Looks awesome when they are all lit up. Also just a classy look that will fit in anywhere. If you decide to grab any extra cabs, 412, 112, extra 212 it will always be easiest to find a black one.

There are certain combos that are really classy and just scream MATCHLESS:

    -grey with silver
    -burgandy with silver
    -shower curtain black with silver
    -green with gold or silver
    -black with gold
    -white with gold
    -turqouise with silver

Some of the color panel combos are very classic too, like the black with turquoise panel or the tuxedo look.

I also like the tuxedo look with the white panels and shower curtain black. I got the idea from a chieftain I saw once so I ordered it for my spitfire:

...anybody else see the Matchless combo (2x12 maybe) as well as various other guitars, amps, etc. in The Vow? Saw it last night - no spoilers coming. Male lead is a music producer in the flick. Anyway, during a scene where the female lead is sorting out pictures you see a Matchless fairly clearly in the background.

Just had to point that out. Someone else who knows more about these might know exactly what it was. Somehow it's good to see this & the Dr. Z in the Toyota commercial...

I do like black on black, but already have a Matchless head and 2x10 can in that color, so kinda like something different

That gray posted earlier is "stealth" lookin,' I like it! I always liked the shower curtain covering, but the sparkle metallic silver & gray of the John Jorgenson JJ30 does it for me! Do they still do the metallics?
