Looks a bit smaller than the original.
Man, it'd be cool if they started doing the reverb/echo/tremolo units again...

Yes. Mine blew it's transformer and I called Phil up and asked him about it, and he said the new one is upgraded. I bought one, and mine has been fine since then.

Fantastic pedal btw. Lots of great sounds connected to an amp, and the clean side is simply wonderful as a front end for a modeler, or for recording.

The old ones will always be better though donchaknow? The originals only sell for ~$300-350 these days. I wouldn't be surprised if the reissues cost just as much.

No midrange control on an overdrive pedal? That makes absolutely no sense. Midrange is the very heart and soul of an overdriven guitar tone. But why give it a 3 band eq section when you can make it light up like a christmas tree!

Quick question: would it be overkill to use a Hotbox into my Clubman? Perhaps too much of the bright chime could yield less than stellar results? Anyone ever ran a Hotbox into a Matchless amp? I'm happy with my OCD. Just curious.

It does do that, but a bit of restraint on the Cut (presence) and treble dials it right in and it works great.

$499.00 is a little spendy for me.

Do you mean you blew the tranny on an original one or the RI? Was it really the tranny that was the problem or the way they wired it up, do you know?

If it's like the original, the bass and treble controls are very interactive ala Voc, DC30, etc. You wont miss the mid control on this.

While the original was one of my favorite overdrives of all time, it also had a very annoying hum that even after taking it back in to Matchless a couple of times, I could never get rid of. I think it had to do with the parts layout and transformer proximity to sensitive circuits. I used to use mine live all the time, but as I settled more into the studio side of things I found it to be pretty unuseable.

If they re-engineered the hum issue I would love to have one of these again. You can keep the originals as far as I'm concerned.
