May I please have some advice on which of these powered speakers is the best for my use?

I'm moving to a smaller house and going from a music room to basically a desk in a Florida Room. Whereas now I can slob up the music room I now have to be neat and tidy about my desk setup. All I do essentially in my music room is practice by playing along with songs from my phone that I'm learning or putz around and practice scales, etc.

I run the output of my amp's speaker sim and an MP3 player in to a small mixer (Behringer XR12) and use headphones. I will want to, however, run that mix through small speakers from time to time so looking for small speakers for my 14' x 14' room.

I'm looking at small, inexpensive tower-type speakers like this Kustom: http://www.guitarcenter.com/Kustom-PA/PA50-Personal-PA-System.gc#pr-header-back-to-top-link that I'll place in opposite corners of the 14' x 14' room. Loudness isn't critical but reasonable clarity is. I don't need high quality because it's just me practicing and farting around. I do want it to sound reasonably good, though.

The other option I'm considering are like these M-Audio BX5's: http://www.guitarcenter.com/M-Audio/BX5-D2-Studio-Monitor-Each-1372265650631.gc The advantage of these is they can be placed on the desk and they'll look decent enough. I just don't know if these would be good for running an electric guitar (overdriven with delays) and MP3 mix through. Perhaps I have "reference monitors" stuck in my head so therefore not seeing these working.

I'm not planning to use either for mixing.

I could really use some advice here on which if these would be the better option. Alternatively, if y'all have other ideas or suggestions I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks!!!

I wouldn't look at near field monitors unless you want to plan on mixing. That rules out the Maudio

Kustom is junk. Stay away

Look at Alto TX10 pair or Alto Trouper Compact. Cheap but affordable and will work for your plans
