i have an analog synth with stereo line-level outs for each voice. these outs are one single 1/4" jack for each stereo signal, L+R. i want to record each voice separately for editing.

the interface im using atm is a focusrite 18i20. my question is: can i record one of these stereo outs from the synth with one interface input or do i need to split the L/R and record each voice in dual mono?

almost sure you'd need to go dual mono. The focusrite only take TS I'm pretty sure.
I have one of those focusrite and confess I've not tried to insert are TRS. But most definitely a dual mono will work, done it many times with synths, stereo TRS out pedals, rack units.

Simple insert/Y cable will do it if your synth doesn't have dual mono outs

yeah i kinda though that would be the case. ****. the synth is a 4 voice, so that pretty much takes up all the inserts.
