    Dave looks and acts like a chump. More so than he ever has. At this point, Sammy would be WAY cooler. Not trying to troll, just amazed that EVH and Alex put up with that as their lead singer.

    So horrible. "Quite an auspicious occasion" indeed. "Like the Beatles on Ed Sullivan"? The Beatles were new, and different.

    This is so disappointing to me. I'm reminded of Jason Newsteds interview in " Some kind of monster". Paraphrased - "that is so fu€¥ing un metal". Or, un rock and roll as it is here.

    Playing an afternoon womens talk show is " So fu€¥ing un rock & roll"!

    Galldammit I love Dave. I thought he did great. Yeah there were some interesting screams in there but hey, it's live. Always so fun to watch him regardless of how bizarre he is. People were talking about how gaunt he looked on Kimmel - aside from perhaps the slight difference in hairstyle he looks healthy as 80s-era Dave to me.

    LONG LIVE VAN HALEN.

    Did she say everyone gets a copy of their NEW CD? There's a new one out?

    I'm going to try and score tickets this Saturday. I saw them in their heyday and they sounded like **** then so what the hell (Fair Warning tour, it was blamed on the alcohol then). Plus one old of my old buddy is EVH guitar tech...again, he has been since the original reunion tour kicked off a few years back.

    EVH = looking and playing great

    AVH = very solid

    WVH = bring back Mike. VH ≠ VH without those backing harmonies

    DLR = :facepalm

    I wouldn't pay $10 to them.

    If they're stubborn enough, and still pissed off enough at Sammy, then having Dave with them is their only chance to play anything bigger than casinos.

    Sammy was always able to cover the songs both from his time with the band AND Dave's, but Dave can't even handle his own songs now-and no way he could pull off the Hagar-era stuff.

    There's something about DLR that's always made me laugh in an endearing kind of way. Looked to me like they were having fun but I couldn't figure out if Eddie was laughing with him or at him.

    They really have an awkward stage presence. DLR is going to hurt himself with the high kicks one of these times. He's too old for that stuff.

    Is EVH really running 32 speakers, or is that mostly just for show?

    How cool would it be to have a CF & VH bill?

    Wow, is there any other band that gets analyzed so much? Note to self: Just enjoy Van Halen and stop reading VH-related threads on TGP from here on out. Bye!

    I thought Dave sounded pretty darn good on the Ellen show and the band looked like they were having a great time. I was just listening to the Jump performance again without watching it and it sound like good old Van Halen to me. Roth having his nose busted on the Kimmel show did not help his singing any as far as that performance went.

    I enjoy it and thought EVH was amazing. How cool is it to play with your son on stage? Very cool.

    I'll be in the minority here and say that I thought it was GREAT!

    Especially Dance the Night Away. That's how you please a crowd.

    VH has always been pretty cheesy live. No surprises here.
    The ladies in the audience seemed to be loving it, and isn't that the point?

    I agree that DLR sounded way better on this gig than on the Kimmel gig. Why that is, it's hard to know. Yes, the nose injury couldn't have helped, but he sounds pretty dang dreadful on a lot of live recordings. If only he could be as in tune as he was on Ellen all the time, he'd leave much of the band's audience way more satisfied.

    I wonder whether he has trouble hearing himself onstage. That could account for trouble singing in tune.

    But, one way or the other, Van Halen with Healthy Eddie and DLR is just so much fun that I'm captivated. I was into Van Halen as a teenager in the 80s, and I'm a bigger fan now than ever.

    In the last few videos I've seen, Alex seems to be having some difficulties, especially on the Kimmel show--he and Eddie aren't locked or something. In Jump, he played around with the offbeats a little too much. Just my take.

    I think DLR must be going deaf. I can't think of any other reason why he's singing like that.
