I just purchased a brand new Mesa Electra Dyne 2x12 combo from Mesa Hollywood. Incredible amp, in fact its my second. They sound great in stereo.

I was looking it over after it came in though and noticed that one of the 6L6 tubes in my new amp is about a half inch longer than all the other tubes. They are all labeled STR-440, but it just seemed odd.

I know Mesa rebrands their tubes and they can come from different sources, but i suppose i just figured they would be the same specs. FWIW im not worried about it and am happy to have the amp. Just more of a curiosity than anything...

Anyone else notice this in a new Mesa amp or tube set?

One of the tube vendors (I forget which one) makes a 6L6 that's shorter than the typical 6L6.

The difference in bottle length is simply due to the manufacturing process, and has no effect on tone, operation, or otherwise. Thanks!
