I have a Mesa Black Shadow speaker that came in an amp I bought on EBay. I don't know how old it is. Does anyone know who makes this speaker, and what speaker if any it's patterned after? Any love for this speaker?

No love... just box it up and send it to me :D

If i understand correctly they are made by Celestion and are very similar to Classic Lead 80s, but the are 90w. Both the CL80 and MC90s are my favorite Celestion speakers. IMO, they sound killer with Marshalls and Mesas.

Hard to say without pics or description. The "Black Shadow" moniker came on various custom speakers Mesa used made by Celestion (though interestingly not thier V30 version for some reason)EV and Eminence. Bob

I've got some old Eminence Black Shadows in a 4x12 that I love. They're bright (not in a bad way), articulate, and can handle a lot of power! I'd get more if they weren't OEM and impossible to find.

I have one in an '81 MkIIb and it really sounds great in a live situation where I can open up the amp- practice levels not so good.
